The Spanish U20 Women's side beat Nigeria thanks to goals by Aitana Bonmatí and Patri Guijarro

The moment came for the Spanish side to dare to shine, and shine they did reaching an historic milestone in the history of the Spanish women's football.

The team led by Pedro López has not given Nigeria a chance to start on Concarneau's turf, the coach forced to recompose the attack due to the loss of Lucía García, substituted by Maite Oroz, while Candela Andújar occupied the right side instead of Eva Navarro.

The physical power of the Africans and the fact that they came out victories in the previous meeting between both teams, was not going to intimidate the U-20 that left ready to vindicate themselves with their vertical and combinative game.

Barely fifteen minutes in Aitana Bonmati caught the ball and from outside the box shot tightly past the Nigerian keeper.

It was the prologue to a half-hour of intense dominance, in which Lucía Rodríguez had to leave the post to Eva Navarro, where Clàudia Pina was the subject of a clear penalty without whistling and in which Aitana Bonmatí returned to send a pitch of lack of goal, but that was not conceived despite exceeding the line.

Like against USA, Spain delivered a great first half, and struggled in the second

On the verge of halftime Patri Guijarro scored the second in a strategy action, which left a hopeful result before the break.

Musa Christopher, Nigerian coach, decided to go for it and added speedier forwards and Spain had to struggle in the second half.

Ten minutes into the second half, a counterattack stopped in the first instance by Cata Coll later translated to a Nigerian goal by Peace Efih in the rejection.

Nothing and nobody was going to steal the glory for this generation of players, the first in such an advanced category to qualify for the semifinals of a World Cup while declaring with their game that there is no ceiling to what they do, they are here determined to shine.
