Jorge Vilda: "We achieved what we wanted, which was a win"

Murcia 07 Jun 2018
Spain's Head Coach spoke to the press after the qualifier match against Israel in Murcia

In a nutshell: "We're pleased. We played against a very defensive squad and struggled to score, but we've achieved our aim, which was to win and earn three points. Now we've just got to wait to see Finland's result."

"If I'd have to pick the best moment, I'd hold onto the final minutes were we were ambitious and went for the third goal"

Israel: "Israel closes up a lot, it's nearly impenetrable, always tough. In the second half there was a change in attitude and we found our way. Substitutions brought a breath of fresh air and we paced ourselves. If I'd have to pick the best moment, I'd hold onto the final minutes were we were ambitious and went for the third goal."

Aim: "Those of us who follow women's football would sign six matches and six wins. It's a shame the training camp comes to an end tomorrow and if we were to qualify, we won't be able to celebrate together. We'll be staying up to date and will stay in contact via phone. Today can be seen as the end of the season, tomorrow may be the start because we might have qualified for the World Cup. Football doesn't stop and we're going to carry on working daily."
